March 14 2008

On March 14, two members of the Fivepointville Ambulance attended a farm rescue class that was held at the Bowmansville Fire Company. EMS Chief High and EMT A. Martin spent the morning touring a couple farms in the area to see what types of incidents can happen on a farm and get first hand experience of how dangerous farm work really is. After a wonderful lunch that was provided by the fire company, the members headed over to another local farm where different scenarios were set up. One involved a tractor overturned with a subject trapped underneath. Two others involved two different kinds of tractors that ran over a subject. The fourth scenario delt with how to remove an injured or sick person off a tractor in an emergency. Our members had the chance to work side by side with members of Bowmansville, New Holland, Denver, and Terre Hill Fire companies. This training is part of our ongoing dedication to improve our overall skills and knowledge to help our community when and where we are needed. We would like to thank the officers of the Bowmansville Fire Company for including us in this valuable training.
