During the first week of December, four of
our members and also a volunteer from Akron Fire Company and a
Volunteer from the Uwchlan Ambulance Corp in Chester County came
together to learn about how to drive an emergency vehicle
safely. EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) teaches about
the laws and regulations involved with driving and also gives
examples of things that can go very wrong and how to avoid them.
The class involves 16 hours of teaching and then a hands on
driving test. Saturday started out at 8am with the temperature
hovering around 18 degrees and a strong wind blowing. We had a
good time despite the very cold weather and we wish all our new
driver trainees luck and safety in the future. We would like to
send a special thank you to Burkholder Quarry for allowing us to
use their parking lot again this year.
